The Mystery Present

Currently Watching
Arrested Development - Season One
By Arrested Development

This has been a really good Christmas. My mom asked me want I wanted and on a side note I mentioned that I had never seen Arrested Development but always heard how funny it was....so she got me all three seasons.

Stinkin hilarious. You should watch it.

That was a few weeks ago and today (since my parents are divorced) I had Christmas with my dad. What was strange with this year was that since October he and Theresa, my step mom, were talking about how we were going to "love" our present and stuff like that but I just couldn't figure it out. The thing is, I don't ever want anything, I like to get stuff but there is never something that I just have to have. Then he shows me this great gift under the tree...it was just a small box, like I was getting a watch or something (but it wasn't a watch b/c I picked it up and after much shaking determined it wasn't a watch). So now I really have no idea.

We had lunch on Christmas Eve over there and I showed Cameron my brother from my mom's side of the family (we have a complex family) the box and as I picked it up I pretended to take off the lid...only to find that it actually came off. Then I got freaked out b/c my parents would flip if I found out what it was b/c they were really excited about it and I would feel guilty for doing it....so I got Cameron to do it for me. hehehe. I kept guard and he looked in it.

It was a note.

Now my head is really spinning. A note?! That means it could be anything. He asks me if he should read it and I say no b/c of the fear/guilt thing kicking in again.

Well I found out today. They are taking the whole family on a cruise!

To be honest I feel weird even saying it b/c we're not the kind of family that does stuff like this. We grew up on Malt o Meal cereal (Frosted Mini Spooners, mmmmmm) and we had to pay for our own trips to CIY and take out loans for college...normal stuff. But Theresa got a new job and all the kids are out of the house so things have changed. I guess all those years of working in the Kansas mafia finally paid off (it's code name is 4-H).

Now all I need is to buy some swim trunks and to quit being so doughy and pasty and I'll be ready when October comes around.

haha. 4-H is serious business. And Malt-O-Meal? Oh yeah. We lived on that stuff as kids. I was in KC this week and thought of you. My family stayed at a hotel there- went shopping, and went to Snow Creek. Glad you had a good Christmas-- wow- a cruise! I am just a tad jealous.

I don't think I am ever graduating... Really, God willingly I will come back to Joplin May 2008 and walk. I am really sick of school at this point. I like college, but I guess I'm really excited for new things to come. Are you getting any of the ice we've been getting? It's crazy out! But very pretty. :)

Here are some of my thoughts re: 24 this season thus far:
- Chloe is not her usual strange self.. She's mainstreamed a little and while her loyalty for Jack is there, her personality disorder isn't and I liked her better when she was really strange..
- There is a LOT of violence.. the first time, I believe, there's been a warning at the beginning of the show..
- I like seeing some of Jack's humanity.. The fact that he's been tortured overseas for at least 2 years HAS to have some sort of effect on his work here.. culture shock, etc. He still maneuvers the streets of LA like they're nothing, like he's never been gone.. I want to see more of how the events are affecting him..
- I don't like a lot of the main characters so far.. I want them to bring back some of the other guys, like Chase.. I'm wondering if there's a mole in CTU (that new chick) but then again, you never know..
- Jack is great and all but if you kill off all the main characters besides him (like they have seemingly done last season), some of the magic will die.. So here's me hoping that Chloe's relationship will be explained and wondering how Jack's past will come into play..

I do like it and don't think I could have waited at all, but there's always a little something in watching the whole thing through on DVD.. so.. not sure yet.. nothing too big has happened yet.. so we'll see..

i work in a legal department of a corporate office and sometimes have to deal with executives that have retired and still feel like we owe them something. last friday i had a particularly negative encounter and felt the need to vent.

Yeah, 15 minutes before a funeral I tried to superglue a hole in my pants shut. You can't wear a cumberbund down there, and it wasn't a tux anyway...
